Cookie policy

Last updated 2026-08-14

There is one stored item on this site and it holds your answer to the cookie notice. Everything else on this page describes things that are currently switched off.

What is stored today

A single entry in your browser's local storage, containing one word: whether you accepted or declined. It cannot identify you, it is not sent to the server, and it exists so the notice does not reappear on every page you open.

Categories

  • Strictly necessary. The consent answer above. There is no way to switch this off while still remembering that you switched it off, which is the usual paradox with this category.
  • Measurement. Counting page views so I know which guides are worth keeping. Not currently active, and if it is added it will only run after you press Accept all.
  • Advertising. None, on any page. This site carries no advertising and is not part of an ad network. If that ever changes it will be stated here first.

Because nothing in the second or third category is loaded by default, pressing Reject all changes nothing about how the site behaves for you. Both buttons are offered anyway, since a notice with only one real option is not a choice.

Notifications

The notification service (OneSignal) loads on every page and keeps a small record of its own in your browser so it knows whether you have been asked yet. A push subscription is only created if you tick the box on a form and then allow notifications in the browser prompt. Declining, or clearing site data, removes it and nothing else on the site changes.

Clearing the stored answer

Clearing site data for merqavell.com removes it, and the notice returns on your next visit.

  • Chrome, desktop and Android. Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies and site data, See all site data and permissions.
  • Safari on iPhone or iPad. Settings, Safari, Advanced, Website Data.
  • Safari on a Mac. Safari, Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox. Settings, Privacy and Security, Cookies and Site Data, Manage Data.
  • Edge. Settings, Cookies and site permissions, Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Private or incognito browsing discards it automatically when you close the window, which is why the notice always appears in those modes.

Cookies from other parties

None are set by this site. The delivery network in front of the site may set its own technical cookie for security reasons as part of serving the page; that is covered in the privacy policy. Once you follow a link out to a store listing, the destination's own practices apply and this page no longer describes what happens.

Browser privacy signals

A Do Not Track header or a global privacy control signal is honoured here by default, in the sense that nothing in the measurement or advertising categories runs unless you actively accept it. If measurement is introduced later, such a signal will be treated as a refusal without asking you again.
